America Needs Wrestling...The Founding Fathers Knew of its Importance!

America Needs Wrestling

Dan Gable several years ago at a NWCA Convention made a “prolific” statement regarding wrestling in America.  A man of few words noted “America Needs Wrestling”.

Wrestling has been around for 6000 years.  Over 174 nations in the world participate in some form of wrestling as well as being members of the International Olympic Federations.  The largest number of nations in the entire Olympic movement!

The Founding Fathers knew how important it was for young boys to be instructed in the activity along with track, leaping and swimming.

The last frontier for wrestling in America is the large cities many of whom have very little or no wrestling in their curriculum.

The Beat the Streets USA Wrestling has begun its last effort to make wrestling available to all 340 million people in the country.  I need some help selling it to America.  Invest in the “future of wrestling”!

That to keep them in Health, and to strengthen and render active their Bodies, they be frequently (*7) exercis'd in Running, Leaping, Wrestling, and Swimming (* 8) &c.

Benjamin Franklin- A Patriot

13 of the 44 United States Presidents have wrestling in their backgrounds.

US Soccer National Team Member, Charlie Davis - Charlie was nearly killed in a car accident a year ago, and is now on the road to recovery and back to being one of the Nations top players....

"Going to practice the day after that disappointment still wasn't easy. Luckily, I had help. My background as a high school wrestler gave me a mental toughness you don't learn in soccer. In wrestling, you're on your own --  push-ups and sit-ups are your friends"

4th paragraph from the bottom:

Quotes from John Madden and many other top football coaches recruiting players who have wrestling backgrounds are well noted to all….
